My favorite book of 2017 was “The Alice Network,” and I didn’t think I would discover something that could rival it. Well, I might have found it. “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” is the second Taylor Jenkins Reid book I’ve read. Sure, I enjoyed “One True Loves” but wasn’t crazy about it.
That’s the beauty about books. Don’t give up on authors; not every book is your cup of tea.
“It’s always been fascinating to me how things can be simultaneously true and false, how people can be good and bad all in one, how someone can love you in a way that is beautifully selfless while serving themselves ruthlessly.”
Disclaimer: I listened to this book. The narrators were fantastic, and are probably the number one reason I found it so enjoyable.
Evelyn Hugo is a Hollywood legend, and she is ready to tell her story of love, success and family. Monique Grant is the one she picks to write it all down. As readers, we are taken on a journey that spans decades. Evelyn reveals some of Hollywood’s dirty secrets. Of course, there are also juicy details about her seven husbands and the one she loved the most.
Final thoughts: I went into this book knowing very little about the plot, and suggest the same for you. Maybe that is one of the reasons I didn’t want to stop listening.
